The Nairobi Waldorf School Trust

School Profile:

The Nairobi Waldorf School Trust is proud to educate 300 children across two campuses. Our Karen campus includes playgroup, kindergarten, and primary grades 1 to 8 as well as high school grades 9 to 12. Our Lavington campus consists of playgroup, kindergarten, and primary grades 1 to 3.

We nurture the head, heart, and hands of every child and inspire a love for learning. Our students are encouraged to become confident individuals who are capable of critical, creative, and flexible thinking.

WHY WALDORF?

UNIQUE TEACHER APPROACH – Waldorf class teachers remain with their class from grade one through the primary years. This allows for a uniquely bonded group consisting of teacher, students, and parents that helps support learning

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING – Waldorf schools utilize a daily two hour morning main lesson approach to teach academic subjects. The selected subject is taught in a comprehensive three to four week “block”, allowing for freshness, enthusiasm, and an in-depth learning experience.

COGNITIVE AND ARTISTIC DISCIPLINES – This immersion in a single subject through the block system promotes horizontal integration of cognitive and artistic disciplines as well as vertical integration through an ascending spiral of learning that revisits subjects throughout the year and across years.

TAILORED TO DEVELOPMENTAL AGE – The Waldorf curricu-lum is carefully designed to meet each stage of a child’s social and intellectual development from early childhood, through adolescence, and into young adulthood.
